I bought these step wells for my UP GP40-2 #1445 project. (http://people.umass.edu/cslemp). I had originally planned to simulate these steps using styrene and a set of Cannon GP60 steps, but these step wells are much better looking and were far easier than bashing something together would have been.
This kit is etched from a thin sheet of brass, the parts are clean, and require nothing more than trimming from the sprue and a little filing to get them ready. A decent pair of flat, needlenose pliers work well to bend the parts. I assembled mine using CA, which worked fine, though solder would work as well. The only thing I found particularly tedious was attaching the steps, though halfway through I figured out that a small drop of CA gel will hold the step in place well enough to brush on a bit of liquid CA to seal the joint.
I like this product as well as the general direction that RFMP is going in with all it's detail parts. Finally we model railroaders will be able to build true-scale models, just like our military modeling counterparts.
This product alone would get an 8 or a 9, I chose to give it a 10, because Christopher does an absolutely amazing job of letting his customers know exactly what is going on with the company, it's parts, and individual orders, you don't even need to ask. This is something I've never seen before from any company I've done business with, Model Railroad related or not.
