A very great product Grandt Line has here. The engine is powered by a small slot car style motor, and some plastic gears.
Being so light, it is only powerful enough to pull/push 1-3 cars, depending on weight. Initial test runs took allot of power to move along, screaming as it goes. being so light you'd think it'd jump the tracks often, but I only managed to once, on a badly mis-aligned connection.
The engine has NO spare room under its hood for DCC, however I feel it might be able to accept a small N scale, or 4 function HO scale decoder mounted inside the cab. The kit comes without lights, but has space to install them also. The wheels have to be set perfect, as the "equalizing" system isn't perfect.
Over all its a great train, for a small switching operation.

I like those little critters. I've build the Keystone kit of a GE 44-ton. I had someone for a new driving unit. So this engine is now a gem:

Wolfgang, the unit uses a Slot Car motor, with some evil gearing, it can get about 15 scale miles per hour. If it doesn't strip the gears like mine has.
I'll add that warning. Somehow, mine has managed to strip out on gear, so now only one axle turns, and the other is stiff, and it will not move. I have to dismantle it, and I plan to use some stronger gears.

Nice little kit if you don't pay the full HS price. (I own one in 1/1 scale)
I broke the gear drive/tower in no time so gutted it and threw in a power truck from an old Bachman 44 tonner. It does tend to stall on some turnouts.
I added weight where I could, including the roof of the cab , and put an engineer in place. (me!) Not much room for DCC, but it will pull six cars around the layout. The real Mcoy pulls 25 with ease on level track!
