Description: First off, the packaging is quite secure for this locomotive to travel in. However, removing the locomotive from the package requires reading the instruction sheet beforehand as there is a certain method for removing it without damage.

Once the locomotive is removed, you will find a bag with detail parts that can be separately applied and an electronic 'wand' device for resetting locomotive features with a swish of your wrist.

The instruction booklet is top-notch, a full manual for applying the extra details and re-programming every aspect of the decoder including sound functions.

I have used this locomotive on both a analog DC layout and a DCC layout. It performs well on both, however, as expected, the DC layout requires a beefy transformer and high voltage setting to get the locomotive moving. DCC control could not be better.

Sound functions come from dual speakers and include excellent crisp sounding horns, bells, brakes, doppler, etc.

The loco will crawl at an exceptionally low setting on both DC (once started) and DCC. Re-programming of features can be done traditionally on digital layouts and using the already mentioned wand method for DC layouts.

The handrails on this loco are plastic, not metal. I have not yet super-detailed the loco with the include extra pieces. The horn on top of the loco is already installed. The locomotive, aside from the extra parts, is 'ready to run'.

This is the finest locomotive I have ever used, and I look forward to more P2K diesel releases.
