Description:

This is an HO scale Flashing Rear End Device, or End of Train Device from Ring Engineering (www.ringengineering.com)
The kit comes with one truck with EOT circuit board mounted to it and a Kaydee #5 coupler with the EOT unit mounted on it. The kit is available in 33" and 36" wheels. There is a long wire version for mounting on Autoracks and 89' flat cars. You can even order a matching truck for the other end of the car.
The Kit is easy to install. Just remove the truck and coupler from your car and install the new ones.
The unit runs off track power and works on both DC and DCC systems. The blink rate on the EOT is quite good, maybe a little too fast, but not much.

Pros:
|
Small, nice flash rate, runs on track power
|
|
Cons:
|
Can't be turned off
|
|
This is one slick little unit! Can be mounted on any freight car, even an empty container car. It runs on track power, so you don't need to worry about batteries. The EOT is mounted on the side of the coupler, so the coupler still works.
The flash rate on the EOT is very good. It may be a little fast, but its close.
The unit is a little expensive, but worth it over all. It is also a little tricky to install, as you have to pop one of the wheel sets out and rotate the circuit board out of the way to screw the truck on. You can damage the conections between the wheels and circuit board if you are not careful.
I wish the unit had an off switch. I'm not sure how long it will last if left on all the time. But if you remove the car from the track or shut the power off, it should last a long time.
This is a must have for any modern modeller.

Needs a scale coupler

They also have a 33" (70 ton) one. Both are very nice. I have mounted the Eot on a scale coupler & also changed the side frames for my Roadrailer train. They are expensive but Ring Engineering is a very good company. They will get back to you when Emailing them. Tim
