Description:
This 50' Double-Plug Door boxcar is a nice model.
It comes equipt with metal wheels and knuckle style couplers. The detail is mostly molded on, with seperately applied end ladders. The printing is crisp and clear. There are two road numbers per road name.

Pros:
good price, nice paint schemes
Cons:
heavy details
I got these cars mainly because of the paint schemes. The detail is not as good as I had hopped, but the end ladders do improve the over all appearance of the car.
I would also like to see Athearn move to a knuckle coupler with a metal spring in it, rather than the molded on leaf.
All in all its a nice sturdy car to fill out a train with.

This first review is about the RTR version. I got the Guilford MEC boxcar. The paint job wasn't too good. It had gaps if viewed from the side. The lettering on the ends are also wavy. It's also a little on the light side.
I also have the older Blue box version. The blue box version cost me $8. It was very underweight and came with plastic wheels. The doors opened which was a plus, but it wobbled a lot because it needed a lot of weight to conform to NMRA standards.
