Description:
This is a craftsman style kit of the Container only NTTX series Spine Car. This is a rare prototype as container only spine cars are not a versatile as Multi-purpose Spine cars and can only carry one container per deck. While the model is of the cars built for TTX it is also very similar to cars used by CP Rail.
The kit consists of Etched Brass and cast Pewter parts. The brass components must be bent and soldered together. Some soldering experience is needed to assemble this kit. The pieces fit well together, so the soldering is not very difficult.
The cast pester parts are well detailed and have very little flash on them. They can be applied using super glue.
The kit comes with very good assembly instructions complete with pictures. There is also a great online assembly guide on their web site.
The modeller must provide trucks, couplers, paint and decals to complete the kit.

Pros:
Unique model, quality parts, not that hard to build
Cons:
pricey, lots of soldering

I really enjoyed this kit. I had never built a brass kit before and all the soldering worried me as I'm not very good at it. The soldering wasn't that hard as all the pieces of the kit are well made and fit together great. An alternate to soldering would be super glue.
The brass and pewter parts give this car great weight so it can be run empty.
Micro Scale makes a decal set for the TTX painted cars. I made my own CP Rail decals to complete my model.
