Description:
This is the updated version of Walthers 55' Cushion Coil Steel Car.

This model has a diecast frame for extra weight when empty, metal wheels and knuckle style couplers.

As with most Walthers cars, there are no molded on grab irons. They are marked with dimples and the modeller can drill and apply the supplied wire formed grab irons if they choose to.

The printing is crisp and clear. The cars are available in one and two packs for a total of three different car numbers.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Look excellent, good empty weight
Cons: add on details

I have about ten of these cars. Most of which are older models with out diecast frames. This new diecast frame is great. The car runs much better empty and you can use cheap plastic coil loads instead of metal ones.

The add-on details, while annoying, are well marked and easy to apply.

The Red Caboose coil cars may look better, but this is a great car for the price and much more durable.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Decent paint
Cons: It's a half-built kit

For the price I paid, I shouldn't receive a half-built kit. I have both the kit and Gold Line versions. The hoods on the gold line version lack horizontal and vertical grabs (those are to be user installed and painted). At least on the kit version the vertical grabs are molded on!
