Pros:
close, tight coupling, realistic size & shape, realistic coupling action
Cons:
no compatable with Kadee style couplers

I bought the EC87A, 5 assembled EC87 couplers. After I bought the first two packs (totaling 10 couplers) I fell in love. These couplers are designed to look & act like a real coupler. They use a ball bearing to hold the knuckle closed. To uncouple you would pass a magnet over the top of the coupler, then pull apart. To couple, at least one coupler has to be open. This replicates the prototype. The size & color are great too. However it can be a large expence when switching as they're only compatable with Glatzl dummy knuckle couplers. However if you start slow, and convert locomotives, and add one coupler to one end of a car to make a "transition" car, you can continue using the kadee style couplers as you transition.

I've noticed that recently, Sergent Engineering has changed the color of the couplers, to a more graphite grayish black. This may concern some, as they're not "matching" but it can create a good variance in coupler color.
