I never thought I'd stoop to planting a built-up on my layout, but the photos of these new towers looked so good, I had to see one up-close and personal. I was really impressed with it! This is not your garden variety factory assembled structure, with raw plastic cast in colors that are supposed to represent a painted structure, because this structure IS painted, and the paint job is great because it represents a semi-weathered finish, one that is very hard to achieve with paint. I don't know how they did it, but I applaud them.
I added some personal touches. I treated the roof and chimney with heavily diluted white acrylic paint, to make the roof look weathered and to make the joint lines in the brick really stick out. I originally planted the interlockings in front of the structure, but they looked so out of place that I decided to remove them, and I justified this by telling myself that the railroad had upgraded and no longer needed them! Also, I am not using the pallets in the photo, but the two figures are included and they are excellent.
