Pros: Nice kit, easy to build
Cons: Lacks alot of detail, too tall (read review)

These Custom rail kits seem to be showing up on eBay alot more often now, as people are realizing the issues with this kit. In compairson to the Walthers autoracks, this car is a dissapointment, and I own 3. First off, the kit is nice, and if you're ambitious, you can make it work.

The car sides and roof are nice, well made, and it even includes the racks for inside the car.

The downsides! Upon final assembly of my first kit, I come to find out the WHOLE car is about 1-2 scale feet TOO high! I'm not talking the over all hight, I'm talking the FLOOR height. The coupler ends up to high that it cannot possibly stay coupled! I have yet to try to modify it though. Beyond that, it lacks brake detail, it does come with the air resivoir, but thats it.

I'd suggest to avoid these, unless you're a project person.

Pros: Easy Mod to "get it right"
Cons:

So now that I've gone though the easier portion of the modification I'm going to have to lean back towards, yes these are awesome models, buy one!

To lower the car, remove the coupler swing bracket, and carefully trim the bolster down to the level area that originally formed the gap for the coupler bracket. The car should now sit at a prototypical height if not a tad high. Installing Kadee 28" wheels should bring it perfect no matter what.

Now all you've got to do is cut the end up to fit the coupler pocket and have the low deck look of a real tri-level.
