Description:

This is an HO scale model of the MP15DC by atlas, it's the gold series model with the QSI sound system. The packaging is bullet proof, you could drop this from a tower block and the loco would survive. The loco runs very smooth and precise and the sound system is excellent. The owner of this loco has to fit the additional details included grab irons, horn, snow plough, MU stand and footboards.
To sum up this loco in one word i'd have to say "Brilliant"

Pros:

Great Details, smooth running, outstanding sound!

Cons:
|
light on its wheels (slippery on hills)

I purchased the SP version of this model and I agree... the sound and details are superb! A wonderful smooth running model. Biggest dissapointment is that it has issues running much of a train (over 4 cars) up a 3-4% grade. I suppose it could also be that I'm running 22" radius curves, but it seems a bit too lightweight. A great addition for a yard or local engine.

Great detail and paint job

Cons:

Decoder won't read back, not a smooth starter.

I have the G&W #45 version of this locomotive and I love it. The only problems I have appear to be with the QSI decoder - I've got the PowerPax from Tony's and my EasyDCC (ver. 430) system still can't read the decoder. Writes it just fine though. It also "lurches" into motion instead of starting up smoothly, but I'm still working on finding the cause for that - I believe it was smoother out of the box than it is now.
