Just picked one of these up and I am very impressed with how it looks considering it was less than $13. Would look good on almost any layout.

I'm slightly disappointed with my first ES44DC. It came brand new in box with the ditch lights loose from the frame, and half the handrails falling off. I could not get them to fit snug, so I'm going to have to glue them. Detail is nice, however, for the price they could have at least given a few see through grills on the sides, even BACHMANN has see through internal air filter grills on the Dash 8's! As with any production unit, Details West has found lots to add, I plan on adding their detail back to each and every ES44 I buy.

Another great shear from Xuron. I got this one because the scissors were just not cutting it anymore (no pun intended there). I'm currently using them (at the time of writing this article) on some Plano parts, and I'm able to cut the parts out w/o damage. However, if you're cutting parts that are close togeather, you might want to be careful, the head is quite wide, so it does not fit between parts that have been etched really close to each other.

I dont have one but I know they are around the $90 range. My old friend & neighbor had one and I almost bought from him if he wa willing to sell. He was a big BN & UP fan himself plus Amtrak & Rock Isand a little with of course Santa Fe. He gave a newspaper that got me to go to my 1st train show in Evanston Wyoming.

Superb kit, much better molding then the diner kit I previously reviewed. All corners were relatively square and wall are much thinner then that of the diner. City Classics uses butt joints, though they include a large amount of square styrene stock to re-enforce the corners. I used a small carpenters square to keep the building square. Parts are two color molded, white, or gray. I'll be re-painting my houses to an antique white, and re-doing the roofs in a shingle paper. Each house comes with its own outhouse, lean-to addition & deck, though you can choose options as you build. If you leave something off, there's no holes to be filled.

Walthers has had this kit forever, and I think their mold is getting tired. The parts are molded, looking like the two halves of the mold are no longer lined up properly. Took allot of filing & sanding to get the track for the crane parts to be smooth enough to work well. The trolley for the actual hook, rests on two tracks, the way the mold is working out, the tracks are not quite wide enough for the "wheels" of it. Overall its the best overhead traveling crane on the market, though its time is coming to an end, in my mind (unless the mold has been this bad all along!).

Sadly I paid a convince fee (extra $1 compared to MSRP), darn LHS. Anyways, I bought this item, because I was trying to find a better solution to cutting the foam for my layout. I was getting frustrated with the saw mess, and the lack of cutting ability on a short Xacto. This thing works like a dream. It's cutting the foam smooth, and with great ease. If you're not up to buying a hot knife, I'd say this is the way to go.

I have one. I have the NPPX 1400, it has worked out pretty good with my coal trains and freight trains. Man does it look good behind 2 new looking BN sd70mac's.

I bought this locomotive as my first fully-detailed RTR locomotive, after years of strictly Athearn kit locos. I was impressed by it's operation, but when i took the shell off, there was no weight! The only weight seems to be the frame. I have since bought another (secondhand), and even with both of them, they can only pull about 2/3 of any other locomotive i have. Adding weight is definately on the to-do list.
