Default How to wire Tortoise motors for a DC Block Railroad Layout control and signal lights

I recently purchased some used Tortoise motors for my HO layout that I am building. It is going to be DC block contolled (many old DC steam engines ). I have tested Tortoisealso motors and they seem to work fine. I placed Red wire on #1 and a Black on #8. Switched polarity to test and they changed positions. Now I would like to run DC power to the switch motors and use two light signal towers connected to the tortoises. This would allow me to show green or red to incoming engines for realism from the signal towers (Model Power 2 light signals). I plan to place the lights on the right hand side of the track facing opposite directions so the lights will shine in red/green or green/red combinations. How and What do I need to switch the polarity to the tortoises - to the signal lights and also work on crossovers. Can I get this done. I am open for suggestions! My track is 100 code and the switches are #6 and #8 atlas. Thanks Jim

I use DCC but I put two bi-color LED's in line with the tortoise power. (no resistors)
Give it a try, don't know what voltage your running but worst you could do is blow an LED?
Let us know!
(#8's are awesome in crossovers, ain't they?)
