Default Building the HO Rubbles Depot Kit-Present

In case the readers are not aware, we purchase the Thomas A. Yorke Ent Structure kit products (yes, all three scales) and the the first kit that we have been able to release is the HO Rubbles Depot. Now since this Rubbles Depot kit release was an unexpected scramble we were not able to follow the re-written instructions to construct a Pilot model.

Since we did make some changes to the kit such as replacing the corrugated roofing with resin-cast copper standing seam components and a few other features and since I have not built this kit in probably twenty years, I thought that i would see if there is any interest in my posting a build-a-long tutorial on this forum. We would use this information to update the current 8-page Rubbles Depot kit (HO scale) instruction booklet.

I would be interested in your thoughts about this opportunity.

Sincerely, Richard E. Bendever

Sweet! That is a fine looking little station you have there. I need to have my finance committee look into funding such a project!

very Funny, Ed and thank you! We have sold over 100+ HO Rubbles Depot kits in the past few weeks and with the NG&SL Gazette ad coming out in just a few more weeks I thought that there would be more interest in building this model especially since it hasn't been offered in 31 years.

Sincerely, Richard E. Bendever

I just found this and am curious as to what people think of it? Possibly please post some photos, if I'm not asking too much.

I've always like the look of this kit. Unfortunately I don't model anything I could use it in. Have fun. Jim

I found one of the Thomas Yorke kits and pulled the trigger! Now the (seemingly) long wait until it shows up... I'm trying not to pre-plan what I want to do with it, but the anticipation is already driving me nuts!

Any input on the Dr Bens add-on kits for it would be greatly appreciated!

I believe that a build along/tutorial is a great idea Richard. Even if no-one buys the kit here, by doing the tutorial here online, it will show you where the instructions need upgrading.

The last few years I worked as a RN, I had to write a manual of instructions on how to access, enter data, and change entries on a computerized patient charting program, in our Operating Rooms. Since I was the super-user of the system, I was also the chief instructor. Since I was retiring soon, they had to have very good instructions so the system could be a self learning experience. I also had to include answers to many questions a new user would have.

How did I do it? I used a just hired RN, and taught her the program, writing as I went. Between us I put down all the proper instructions and in the proper order, for a newbie to use the system. All in all, it took me about a month to write them up and get them approved for use. They used these instructions up the time that the system was replaced.

I must admit that I think assembling furniture from IKEA broke me of using directions. I look at the parts, and reference the directions when things don't make sense.

I'm actually in the process of finishing an old Downtown Deco kit that Dr. Bens now makes and calls "Short Line Station". I'll have to put together a thread on what I've done.
