When I got it the engine was wobbling on the track & when it went thru the curves it would almost stop. I took the wheels out & all of the gears were cracked on the axles. I tried to get them from the dealer but they all had big backorders, so, I went on Ebay & found 2 sets for $16.00 a set. Right after I received them I bought the other BL2 on Ebay & it to, had cracked gears. I could've sold them both for less, but, not w/just replacing the axles. Both engines run real good & have a lot of pulling power, so, I might just keep both of them for my excursion train. They fit right in for that time period. I love the BL2 engines for that body style.

FWIW, I had a pair of Proto engines that arrived with cracked gears. I replaced the gears, and less than a year later, they had cracked again. I replaced those with Athearn gears, and had no more trouble.

Default Proto BL2

The other C&O BL2 that I have has Athearn F7 trucks under it. I ran out of the WKW wheel sets so I canabilized a F7 and replaced the entire truck. As a bonus the Bloomberg side frames are accurate.
