Default What exactly do I have here?

Hey folks, cool forums.

Just wondering if anyone can assist in identifying these things. I've tried to look it up on a search but am coming up empty handed. Any help is welcome.

Thanks!

Tainn00b :-)

Looks like some of the Lionel 027 (old) accessories ... at least part of them...

Goodeness gracious me, and heavens to betsy.

Used to be a cartoonist by the name of Heath Robinson did drawings of machines like that. They never produced anything of importance but it was fun seeing how they did it.

I may be really off here, but my thought is- this could be a real railroad device that rides along in a car to determine how smooth the tracks are. Kinda like a roving Geiger counter.

If you're thinking of using this as an industry on your layout, I would suggest a steel sheet forming plant i.e. corrugated iron.

It's a saw mill with the automated grading table. The rotary blade is in the middle and then the mechanism moves the cut board over to the operator for grading or stacking in stacks for kiln drying.

I did a quick search and found this equipment maker: http://www.pendu.com/Pages/Sawmill.htm

Certainly looks that way. Someone's gone to a lot of trouble to make a working model. Could even have been so that a firm like that could display at trade equipment fairs. Might be an idea to contact them, see if it was one they had at some time.

Even before I read the other responses I thought that the last picture looked like a planer. Are you certain these are models and not tools for working with real balsa wood? Is that a sharp blade on that center rotor?
