Default BNSF Motive Power on Roy Wa. local

I got an opportunity to photograph a neat set of loco's today at Roy Washington. It brings grain cars in to an elevator in this tiny town and usually sits for some time before leaving. It's not always as clear around it as it was today so I stopped on the way home and got some pictures so I can model this latter. I love this old SD40-2 still in SF paint.

Great pics mate, these are the sort of shots that gladden the heart of a long distance modeller, especially the patched SF. A great example for a weathering exercise.

And the closeups of the track are a bonus.

I have a bunch of detail shots for my modeling in the future if you would like me to post them.

Thanks Steve, If you've got them stored in a public album on a photohosting site, maybe you could post the link. I'm sure there are others as well who would appreciate them.

Not really that many pictures so I figured I'd just post them.

Some excellent shots there Steve, what's that Swiss cowbell shaped object hanging under the top step, a shielded light to illuminate them?

This is the sort of thing I used to do when I was about 13 or 14 back in NZ (was able to wander about the loco facilities taking pics unchallenged, oh, for such an innocent time), managed to do scale 3/16" - 1' drawings of my favourite loco (4-8-4 "K" class) which when I got hold of some professionaly done ones many years later, were pretty close.

Spot on Toot. Indeed a light under the top step. Since 9-11 the feds take a dim view of rail fanning as we used to do it. I was parked behind the pair of loco's taking pictures when a State Patrol car pulled up behind my truck. The officer got out and I thought "here we go". Imagine my relief and surprise when he started taking pictures as well. Turns out he is a model railroader. NP and Milwaukee. HO. He had just gotten back in his car when the Roy Police pulled up to see what was going on. All's well that ends well.

Haha, not everyone gets a police guard while rail fanning.
