How about the $1300 John Deere Big Boy. I laughed out loud when I saw that the other day.

Being that I have to hobby shops in my area, ebay is one source that I rely on. I have been very fortunate and have never had any problems at all with my purchases. If something is priced out of line, such as this locomotive, I'll just ignore it and move on. I have made some great buys on ebay. I am in need of Shinohara code 70 switches. I recently picked up a double crossover for $31 and a pair of #4 swithces for $14. You just have to take your time an not over pay for items. Some people are asking premium prices, and unless someone is in real need of a particular item that is overpriced, it probably just won't sell.

I agree with some of the items you are talking about. Some can be really funny. The shipping is always one thing to consider. If I can end up with an item, plus shipping for less than I can purchase it from an on line hobby shop I will buy from ebay, but when the price gets to the point to where I can get what I need cheaper from an on line shop, I will buy it on line. My wife hates it when we go on a trip and I find a decent hobby shop that has a great train inventory.
