Anyone have any DD40 4 axle powered trucks they want to get rid of?

Tom, I need one pair for an engine I am redoing for a friend. IT's an old Bachmann w/the Pancake motor on one end. I would rather have a whole powered frame in Athearn if possible, but, I'll take what I can get. I have plenty of Ath. motors, shafts, flywheels, etc. & I figured if I had a frame w/powered trucks I could make that Bachmann shell fit the Ath. frame.
Am I wrong about that? I've never done any of these before. Everything else, yes.

I have trucks for the Athearn DD40 and I believe I have several frames as well, I'll go down to the garage and check today for you, but the Athearn DD40 is considerably shorter than a Bachmann DD40AX Centennial. Do you need me to take some photos of the Athearn frame and the Bachmann DD40 for comparison?

Yes Sir, Photo's would be Great. Do you think I could make that frame work w/a little sawing here & there? Maybe I'll just stick to finding a Good Running Pancake motor for that Bachmann plastic Frame. This one has been fried. I use to have about 5 of those motors & a friend wanted them for some of his school projects & I gave them away--Go Figure.

I had bought one on Ebay a while back that someone had stretched an Athearn frame, but he did a BEAUTIFUL job enclosing the pilots and detailing the body, absolutely gorgeous, but a hack job on the frame, so I bought a Spectrum with bad handrails for the frame and motors and put that body on it. Best as I can tell, he used brass channel for the extensions before and after the fuel tank, but used epoxy to weld it all together, so it was not great. Unfortunately, I don't have that frame anymore, as I chucked it in the ol' round file, but I'll get photos of the Athearn frames and trucks and the Bachmann Centennial with body off and Athearn frame for comparison for you today. If it was me, I'd go the brass channel route and use 2-56 screws to screw the extentions together into the spliced frame.

That is because the Athearn loco is really a DD35.

I am using several Athearns to create my children's entries in the Youth in Model Railroad loco pulling contest. I do not know what "parts" I will have left over, but I do not believe there will be any trucks.

Actually, Athearn's model IS a DD40, it's just that EMD, event hough they cataloged a DD40 and offered it to the railroads, there were no takers and not even a prototype actually built. The difference between Athearn's DD40 rendition and the DD35 is the fans. The DD40 has all 36" fans, whereas the DD35 had a mix of 36in. and 28in. fans like on the GP35's. But still a far cry from the DDa40X built exclusively for UP.

I don't have the Shell to compare anything with. He has the shell & I have the messed up plastic frame. Do you have any good running Bachmann pancake motors that you want to get rid of?
