Help, I am getting my layout off the ping pong table and into the old entertainment center cubby in my basement. The usable space is
Left wall: 67 inches
Width: 112 inches
Right wall: maybe up to 60 inches - the wall only sticks out 45 but the wife has furniture there which comes out about fifteen inches so I may as well match it.
After a couple weeks I am still all over the place with design ideas. Some background:
-I need continuous run. For some time I worked at a Class 1 and saw multi-directional single main operation on a CTC/Digicon track through New Mexico. Fascinating stuff, especially if I ever go DCC.
-Somehow I actually like reversal loops and had a couple on the ping pong table.
-I am fascinated by these HO road crossing tracks for slot cars I see from time to time so a couple 6" straights are a plus just in case I ever put a small slot car set up on the train layout. (I know, the scale is not dead on)
-My equipment is already HO and I own more than a dozen snap switches and 18" curve track already.
-With a little tweak I to the first plan I can run a grade up the 112" wall to another level. This has my interest as well.
-Reach is a little above average. I'm a tall fella.
Thanks for any advice even if it is only a link to what not to do.
#1 today, but that is a skinny 10 inch walkway and the possibilities for streets between the two sections are somewhat contrived involving tunnels.
#2 with THREE Reverse tracks
#4....if only I had more room
