Default Gosh N is getting smaller with age

Well so much for my second foray into N scale.

Purchased a Spectrun Dash 8-40C which comes with Rapido couplers.

Well I can barely see enough to tell that it is a MINIATURE phillips screw holding them on.

Scared to see the space available for the decoder in this DCC ready unit.

Guess layout building is still a nogo. Gosh this is small.

Ken, Try to find a hobby shop or friend with Z scale items to compare your N scale stuff with.....then N will seem bigger. That's what I do sometimes. LOL!

Yes......rapido couplers are a bummer.....I work overtime to avoid getting those. I will try to cheer you up and encourage you because N scale is fun if you can eventually get your layout going and things working. Hang in there Ken! Get a magnifying glass at craft store for a dollar!

Only 26 and find HO engines hard to work with let alone N

Ken, if you think the couplers are fun, wait until you have to hard wire that decoder in. Unless something has radically changed in the last couple of years, nobody makes a specific decoder for it.
I seem to remember that locomotive needing a MT 2004 coupler.
When it absolutely, positively, has to get there (someday), ship on the ES&BM.

Years ago I had a fairly large N scale layout and due to the poor quality of the locomotives in the mid 70's, I sold everything and changed to HO scale. Now when I look at N scale, I wonder if it isn't Z scale. 30 plus years does something to your eyeballs, and it isn't good.

Space is curved. If you go out in space far enough.....you eventually arrive back where you started. Einstein knew this. This is why N scale is the perfect size!
