Hey! What's going on around here? You guys don't like Photo fun anymore? OK, I'll get it going!

I have finished the lower staging tracks. Decided to add a bit of scenery on them as the tracks will also serve to showcase models as well. Since the New York, Ontario, and Western is the proto influence for my freelance SLOW, there has to be a lot of weeds, bushes, and such growing near, around, and between the rails.....





I have also started top create the form to make a mold for the building sides for the Octagon Blacksmith's Shop I am building. The original in Alloway, NY was built in 1830 and was made from local cobblestone. The building is still there and is now used for storage.

Gotta have weeds! Hex and Octo shaped buildings are definitely an attention getter. I hope you put up some progress pics on the mold work and construction as you go along.

Speaking of scratchbuilt, here's a country store from where I grew up,,,,they demolished it a few years back and put up mini mart,,,,ugh!

Thanks Karl and Mike! Oh yes, lots and lots of photos will be taken (and the best shared) as the Blacksmiths shop will be one i will try to earn a Merit Award for towards the Structures Certificate.

Here's something I've been playing around with the past couple of days. It's an F7 slug with a chopped roof. The portholes, stacks and fans have been removed. As far as I know there's no prototype for it. It's just under eleven scale feet high from rail head to roof. A normal F unit is a bit over two feet higher. Why make such a thing? It's something that not many will have and it's unusual.





And it's powered as well. I still have to wire in a decoder.

Love the store Karl! Jeffrey, very plausible conversion for a B unit with a worn prime mover yet still had serviceable traction motors.

First showing of the trains at the new house. It certainly was a lot of work. My Bachmann 2-6-0 got a trial by fire when I decided at the last minute to throw a loop of track outside on the front lawn. I now know why even garden railroads need to be graded and ballasted. The blades of grass pushing up through the rails rub the bottom of the couplers eventually pushing the uncoupling pins up high enough to leave the train behind. Humm who would have thunk?
