It is an Atlas S-2 cab and frame and drive and I made the entire hood from scratch .

I agree with railfan. What rr will this be painted for?
Everywhere West!
"N", the Normal scale!

If some rivet counter asks, you can tell them it was a repair of wreck damage, or even a re-engine job. It looks good.
When it absolutely, positively, has to get there (someday), ship on the ES&BM.

That's excellent!
Railroads are like math. SR + NW = NS!
By definition, wouldn't it be an HH instead of an S? Is there a story behind it? It looks very tight but it seems like a lot of work for a made up thing. I've tried to freelance stuff but it always looks like the photo when I'm done. I guess I'm one of those so disdained "rivit counters" although I have never actually counted rivets.
I'm very impressed with this job. I like it! Not being a diesel guy and certainly not a rivet counter, I don't know any differences from any prototypes. I like what I see here though. Jim
One big telling difference between an S-2 & HH 600 or 1000 is radiator grille. On the S-2 it's near the front of the long hood & on an HH 600 or 1000 it's near the cab like your model. No matter what you call it, it's still a good looking model!

Yes it would be an HH . I assure you that the hood was made from a detailed drawing in HO scale . The only real difference is the trucks and frame and the rear truck is not so far from the rear pilot but I used what I had to come close.
Beside that It was my labor and my time, the hood comes right off just like the Atlas hood does. Made up or not it looked good to me , with paint it would have looked even better. This was back in about 1994 and all that was available at that time was brass and they didn't look or run all that great. I know I installed gear upgrade kits in a few brass model HH's and they still didn't run very well. I'll just leave it at that.
