Under Construction - Birmingham UK

do you have any current pictures from overhead showing the entire project and what has been done so far? Is anyone else building anything like yours?

Kind of yes - Me and 3 friends have all built a shared fiddleyard and we are all building out own fronts for it. We had a test session of the complete circuit for my friends layout a short while ago.

Some videos of the test session

This is about a scale 100mph

Hi All

Decided to make a dent into a project thats been in my to do pile for a few years now - Namely a sister class 310 to the NSE one I already have.

I had already in the long distant past stuck the self adhesive window frames to the sides but that was as far as I got so with an undisturbed day and a fit of enthusiasm the kit now looks like this!

Roof vents and some filling and sanding next I think

Not a bad days work really

that is some incredible hand laid turnouts. Where's your module that you have been building? Is it in teh video's just out of sight?

Hi Steve

It wont fit yet - the test session was with the shortest layout at 52 feet overall length. We will need to extend the fiddleyard by another 20 feet for my layout.

Looking good, but I think it could do with some working street lights & possibly lighting in the bollards on the traffic island, in the last shot, looks like there's a power cut lol...

I like the random horse. :D (I think that's a horse?) Great work all around. But yeah, a few lights would really liven it up.

Hi guys

I agree but in reality the layout will only ever be exhibited in the day so the lights shouldn't be on

Hi All

While testing the wolves end of the station in preparation for Scaleforum I have been adding little details here and there. Here are a few pictures

The track still needs weathering yet

Jim, I just wanted to tell you what a nice thread this has been for me to read...I was in London last year and riding the tube and the other trains was really great, seems like I was riding a train everywhere that week.
Your model pic is just great. I happen to like that "rolling loaf of bread" look, and your detail work and the scene is so realistic. Well done, sir.

Great looking layout! Great pics too!

One thing I haven't seen on your layout is a TARDIS. I figured any U.K. layout needs a TARDIS. ;)

I'm trying to find a good HO scale one for my layout.

Hi All

Not posted any trains on the layout type pics for a while so to redress the balance...

47088%20at%20bns%2030mar2012.jpg

47088 arrives light engine. This is a bachmann model featuring heljan bogie sideframes and tanks. I still need to correct the boiler port.

47457%20at%20BNS%2030mar2012.jpg

47457 departs for the south - this one is a vi-trains model.

50009 heads a line up of 3 more of her classmates. All of my 50's have been lowered and feature new windscreens, roof fans/grills and body side louvres.

Hi All

I have finished the 4 waiting rooms at the B end of the platforms.

waiting%20room.jpg

The benches are DC kits ones trimmed down a bit. I am not sure about the wheeled skips as I think they are too new but I would appreciate anyone who knows about this and can advise.

all%20ramps.jpg

I have also completed the ramps that were used to move Brute trollies around. These areas and the waiting rooms have swallowed up over 60 benches.

Close up of one of the ramps. while the detail is based on pictures its kind of vague as once the roof is on it will be very hard to see (if at all). The backs of the nearside walls are blank except for the 2 lamps at the far end that you might be able to see (although probably not)

Cheers
