Lets make this a Wiki Review. What do you say are the pros and cons of a set like this to introduce children to model railroading?

This is very true; but it is really nice to see Atlas making an attempt to get kids interested in model railroading. Con - doesn't really look prototype, cars too short.

Nice that it will run on HO track. It might get the parents to buy track and then at some point add on or replace with 'real' electric trains.

I was thinking along the same line as you, Gary. I wonder if this would be a stepping stone to more realistic modeling.

I think it’s actually a cool way to get kids started.
However I can see the sounds driving parents crazy like the infamous singing fish did! LOL

Forget the 3 speeds, stop and flat out will do. The trains most of the teens bring along are Japanese or Euro high speed trains and flat out is how they want to run them.
