For cleaning your roller, just stuff it in an elastic-banded cotton sock...it won't get lost in the machine that way!

What is the roller made of and does it just set loose in the opening on the track?

Hey Burlington Bob,

The roller is made of cotton and rolls freely in the frame of the cleaning car.

A loose-fitting solid steel cylinder is placed inside the roller to provide weight for continuous contact with the rails.

I have a similar car in HO Hal, works very well!
I wrap a J cloth strip with rail cleaning fluid on it and push it around now and then.

I keep my Cleaning Car as a permanent part of my consist! Whenever my wife launders our Whites, I slip the roller in a white sock and it comes out clean!
