Thoughts of Summer....Rochelle Railroad Park

I mentioned that we found some older photographs of the railroad park in Rochelle, Illinois. This where the BNSF crosses the Union Pacific mainlines. Each railroad had double mainlines.

Interesting place where a viewing structure was build to watch the train action during any type of weather. Plus there's picnic area and a Hobo camp where you camp over-night next to the tracks.

Great place to visit the busy mainlines and the Union Railroad museum not far away.

I agree! I work just a few miles from here, and our shop is on the UP Mainline, but we have a remote lot in Rochelle that is along side of the BNSF line visible from the crossing. When there is a service call to the remote lot, I always volunteer to go there. Tons of action to watch. There is a live webcam at the park.
