Surface Preparation of Models Prior to Painting

Good Morning Everyone..........

What is the best method that you found to prep models' surfaces prior to painting or weathering. I usually use soapy water and then followed by a rinse and let the model air dry.

I know some modelers scrub the surface with soapy water and rinse with warm water or distilled water, while others had used alcohol as a wash and that's it.

Suggestions please....

For plastic or resin? Dawn and water. Rinse. Air or blow dry. Let sit for a day or two. Handle with gloves. For brass: media blast, ultrasonic cleaning, rinse, blow dry, let sit for a day or two and handle with gloves. Never been disappointed yet!
