Slippery situation


Very interesting video...that locomotive with its slipping drivers would make a great track cleaner!

I like to watch steamers run slowly to see their mechanisms in action. We used to have a local tourist train out of North Lake, Wisconsin and since it ran so slow, I would watch the train at each and every grade crossing while it made it route through the countryside.

They were applying sand, but the railroad had greased the rails to help the 4 coupled engine through a sharp curve. They overdid the lube considerably, and the engine's sanders couldn't dump enough sand on the rails to keep from slipping. 765 has always tended to be a bit slippery, and the grease only made things worse.
