Good Morning Guys. A warm morning at 78° and absolutely clear skies. Heat advisory in effect today even though it's only expected to hit 97°, oh well, that's what pools are for. Cold front coming later this week, highs only in the lower 90's. How about a couple of sausage, egg and cheese biscuits this morning Francine; they will go well with a tall glass if ice-cold OJ.
Nothing new on the home front as I enter the sixth day of "home-alone". Keeping up with the household tasks and taking care of the granddog. She's not especially frisky in this warmer weather, preferring to stay inside with the AC. I did get the new toilet installed in the long delayed bathroom remodel a few days ago, works as well as expected and no leaks. Old one worked just fine but my wife wanted a new one anyway, they're cheaper than a new wife.

I lost track of the gondola scrap loads that I posted, so rather than post a duplicate, I'll switch back to loaded flat cars. Both of these are Athearn Blue Box cars with loads from Jaeger. I think that the company is still around but they have no web presence.
Meanwhile out in the train shed yesterday, I made progress with the scenery/details upgrade. Nothing to post today as I didn't quite finish what I started. Still working on the chicken yard and made some trees for that property. Also moved left to work on the very small feed store that will finish that strip of blank plywood. I'll post a picture(s) tomorrow.
Patrick - That's a great collection that your daughter scored in the auction. All of those cars, especially the blue box ones, can be easily made into some very acceptable running equipment. See the Tyco gondola that I posted a picture of yesterday. Some might be good only to practice weathering on though.
Johnny -
what is your weathering technique you used on that DPM structure you posted a photo of yesterday? I like the effect you got.
It's been quite a while since I did that structure, but I looked closely at it yesterday and I believe that I used a combination of dry-brushing and powdered chalk. In case you're not familiar with the terms (you are a newbie still?), powdered chalk is an old-fashioned method where you scrape pieces of chalk with a razor blade into powder, and use it like weathering powder. Weathering powder is a much improved method and that's what I use these days. Dry-brushing is dipping your paintbrush into paint, wiping most of it off and lightly brushing it on the structure. The sign is a dry transfer from Woodland Scenics.
Sherrel - Broken steps? Just tell them to sit in the doorway and roll in!
If you're making plans for tomorrow, remember that it is 7-11 day. Free Slurpees at all locations if that's your thing. Meanwhile today is National Kitten Day as well as National Pina Colada Day; both should put a smile on your face.
Everyone have a great day.
