Good morning. A sunny start to the day. Started this way yesterday but as it was in the past few days, thunderstorms moved in. It was like driving under a waterfall coming over the pass yesterday from Livingston. Again, I sure appreciate Rainex. Made quite a difference.

Dave - I really like your photo. You have posted many small scenes and now this photo puts them in perspective. Nice.

Garry - Like the parade photo. Thumb up.gif

Willie - Enjoyed you gondola loads. Sharp!

Terry - We also had some idiots setting off fireworks into the early morning hours. Our little doxie usually isn't bothered much by thunderstorms unless they are really close. The fireworks did bother her and she was plastered up against me most of the night.

It was a busy day at the club yesterday. Outside the depot there were probably around 50 vendors selling various items and food. The club was packed with visitors. We had well over 300 visit the layout. It got a bit tight trying to follow your train from room to room. With the narrow isles, it is not the best for public viewing but they got as much as they could in the space available. Here are some photos.

I came up a couple of times for a drink and something to eat and caught these helpers coming down from the pass.

We laso has some MRL equipment running on the layout.

Here is an interesting photo of a well weathered coal car sitting on the westbound departure track. I believe that they were silver when new. The couplers look a bit like Kadees.

I was able to borrow a Mainline B unit from another club member and was hauling over 30 cars around the layout. We had 8 trains running at the same time which is about the limit with all the visitors we had. Here is my NP F units passing some Burlington U Boats on a passing siding.

Here's one last photo of my train pulling the grade up to the summit.

It was extremely hard to take many photos with all of the visitors, but they all enjoyed visiting the layout and we got so many really good comments about all of the details on the layout.

Later.

Morning all,

Just coffee this morning Flo. Thanks.

Had a busy 4th, just the wrong kind of busy. Picked 10 quarts of blackberries and I'm more scratched up than I expected. Wife thought I should have left the stupid berries alone and watched the grand kids light smoke bombs. Anyway, no train time, but did make decent burgers and brats. First time in a long time I haven't partially burnt the darn things.

Our Fire chief is retiring today, so I have to leave early to attend the party. He's a great guy and will be missed.

Afternoon All,

Had a nice family BBQ yesterday and the people in the neighborhood setting off fireworks stopped around 11 PM:). I was going to put the end cap bracing on the gun tube today but MOH wanted me to go to Target with her, I guess so that I could walk through women's clothing 4 timeso_O. I almost said something but decided discretion was the better part of valor. Needless to say by the time I got home all I wanted to do is sit down and drink a cup of coffee.:(:(I wasn't able to work on the kit Wed or Thursday due to having the grandkids over, I will be away from the house all day Saturday, grandkid's birthday early Sunday, then watching the boys Mon, Tues and Wed. I am going to see Jon and Phil on Thursday.

Willie- Great looking gondola loads.

Chet- Nice layout shots and 1:1 RR shots.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Afternoon All!
Good time was had yesterday with the daughter, Spousal Unit, and SIL going down to see the in town G-Kid in the parade yesterday. MOH says that I would not have enjoyed it (knew that already) as it was elbow to elbow people, but she said that I would have enjoyed all the booing when the Democratic banner came marching along - followed by a thunderous clapping, whistles, and cheering when the Republican banner appeared!
The MIL's birthday was a success... about 37 in attendance and lots of cold beer, lemonade, tea, and tons of eats.
MOH and I were both pretty tired and made an excuse to leave shortly before 7 PM - I needed to feed the doggies and I did not want them alone when all the fireworks started. I watched a few minutes of the fireworks from our upstairs den for the Casino and from our bedroom (opposite side) for the City's bake off. Each display was about 30 min long, but they BOTH start AND end at the same time - WHY NOT STAGGER THEM?

It;s 83* (forecast) and clear - 90* is normal, last year was 104* and the record was 104* in 2018

I didn't feel the earthquake yesterday morning - MOH (at the parade) said she did! Most of the natives at the MIL's party said that they did not?

Good photos CHET, WILLIE.
Willie - I like your homebuilt load the best - Everyday should be National Bikini Day - WOWZEE!
OK - Since you started it - here's mine ....

MY GPS SAYS "ETA" .I SEE TIME TO BEAT AND THE RACE IS ON.
When I was taking long roads trips, Down South when I was chasing the NASCAR circuit from South Jersey & then in more recent years, traveling back & forth to my
present location in the heart of Dairy & cranberry country in my pursuit of courting MBH, I definitely used the ETA on the map apps as “TTB”. Same thing for DTEon the dashboard as a challenge, as well. One time I made in, in my Hemi Ram(pre-MDS setup), from South Jersey into Ohio on a single tank of fuel. My first trip to North Central WI, I made it from Elkhart, IN to Merrimac, WI(just south of where Dahmer was imprisoned(& killed) ), pushing that 300 mile range to the max.
Willie- for us hitched/attached menfolk, bikini season=sunglass season. Them wimmin folk can’t hear eye movement; neck muscles, that’s a different story.
Terry- I didn’t fair so well with the fireworks either. Both the city’s official show, as well as the amateur hourS both before & after, played havoc with my anxiety. I got about 2 hours sleep before I had to get up to see the wife off to work & then get myself ready, too.

Hope you all had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July!
It was interesting to say the least. There was fun in the sun, bikinis on the beach, but also a high school buddy succumbed to cancer and an Aunt died from old age. Tomorrow we head back home to rescue our dog sitter and our other neighbor who has been tending the cat.
Took this pic on Assateague Island today for bikini day!

Good morning. H & H- Hot and humid. Summer time I think it should be called " SAUNA TIME"
Beaches here have been invaded by dead seaweed and it smells like rotten eggs.
Still folks go for cooling breezes.
Rain and T/S due later.
Wish all a nice day.
Phil

MY GPS HAS LEARNED TO SAY- "YOUR OTHER LEFT"

Good Morning Everyone. It's 77° with clear sunny skies here in North Central Texas this morning. Yep! 77° at 0630! Hot & dry is the forecast for the next ten days officially; unofficially that's the forecast for the next three months. What's that Flo? Venison breakfast sausage, I'll take some with two eggs sunny-side up. Second day of home alone! I get to eat a lot of stuff that I don't make right now since my wife is still on that Keto diet. Last night it was grilled pork chops with a mushroom/onion gravy, Italian pasta salad with homemade Italian dressing and some pineapple slices topped with mayo and cheese.

Thanks for the likes and comments yesterday for the gondola loads, or was it my sugar-babe?; Chet, Karl, Phil, Patrick, Jerome, Curt, Sherrel, Tom, Ray.
Here's a couple more from the unit scrap train.

All three are Athearn cars, the first two are Blue Box with Chooch loads and the third is a RTR with an Athearn load.

Well yesterday wasn't exactly a premier day in the train shed. I couldn't get the top off a bottle of paint and out came the trusty Channelocks.

Grrrh! Fortunately I am a hoarder and had one of these available.

So I now have one of these on the paint shelf.

Shortly after that I dropped an HO scale dog on the floor and absolutely couldn't find it after 15 minutes of looking. After scratching my head, I thought of all of those pictures that we all take that show the most minute speck of dust or spiderweb in them. So, I took a picture of several floor areas and went in to download them and sure enough I found the dog, unharmed I might add, that is until I stepped on him and broke his leg.
Later still, I pushed my chair back to get up and the back partially came apart. I had to spend another thirty minutes with the wood glue and clamps to fix that.

Chet - What could be better? Trains inside and out over at the Livingston club. Excellent pictures as usual.
Mike -
Willie- for us hitched/attached menfolk, bikini season=sunglass season. Them wimmin folk can’t hear eye movement; neck muscles, that’s a different story.
I've been pinched, beat on and yelled at for 47 years now and it hasn't changed a thing. Lately though, she has even nudged me to be sure that I don't accidentally miss a passing one!
Karl - Sad to read of the passing of your acquaintances. Condolences from me.

Everybody have a great day

Good morning all, sunny and 72, headed for 85.

We ended up with rain yesterday, so postponed our campout one day. Headed up north in an hour or so.

THANKS for the likes on the layout shots.

Garry CBQ- looks like someone fell over in the parade. Heat exhaustion?

Chet--more nice scenes!

Willie-- how many scrap loads do you have! Your home made ones are the best ( I think they were home made)

I got some work done on the depot also assembled another box car.

Todays layout photo puts the boarding house and lumber yard office together, also handles the access road to the area:

Hope everyone has a nice day! Stay safe--Dave

Morning Shop People! We had a bell ringer of a shaking last night - lasted 35-45 seconds and we are 171 miles away!
Today's weather will be 83*, normal is 89* - last year was 114* - record 114*

AH, Willie ... Those gremlins that attacked you spend most of their time with me. Poor Rover .. is he now going to be a tripod, or did the Vet repair his broken leg?
Most of the problem I find with the commercial scrap loads is the fact that they lack color - I too like your homebuilt loads better.
I get the same treatment with the girls from my main squeeze. My dad used to say that when he got too old to look that you might as well throw some dirt over him. He was in his 80's at that time (damn, just realized that I am almost there as well).
I'll have to start wearing my sunglasses more often even though it will make shopping a little more difficult?
We have a smaller "yuppie" grocery store that has the best, freshish, veggies about a mile from us. The clientele consists of a lot of the younger female variety from the area and the fitness gym located two doors down. Sometimes I just stroll around the store - acting as if I am looking for something - HA - even makes going to the grocery store fun.

Yesterday was spent doing yard chores and cleaning out the fountain which is surrounded with a climbing vine. I cannot believe the number of leaves and trash that was in it - literally, the bottom had a quarter inch of "mud" and debris on the bottom.

Dave - Nice photo!

Beady -- How did you get a photo of my wife? She told me that she would only wear that for me!

Yeah, we were watching the Dodger game when it hit. The centerfield camera was shaking enough to trigger my vertigo. The organist at Dodger Stadium, Dieter Reuhle, didn’t miss a beat. He played a Carole King hit, I Feel The Earth Move(under my feet).
