Printing Graphics and Signs on Decal Paper - Ink Jet

I have a question regarding printing signs and graphics on decal paper for ink jet printers. I originally thought I have purchased the decal paper for both ink jet and laser printers, but found out that I just had the ink jet. If I print the ink jet, is there any thing I need to do to the decal surface after printing and before I apply the finished decals?

I seem to recall that something needed to be applied to decal surface to keep the ink fro being ruined.

yes, a clear ,either matte or satin finish, to keep the ink from running
