Paint removal

I have some PRN engines that I wish to remove the decals and paint. How do I do this and what products are good ?

Your best bet, and possibly cheapest, is to soak them in 91% alcohol. Depending on how good the paint on them is will depend on how long they will need to soak. Once soaked use a tooth brush (an old one preferably) to rub the old paint and decals off.

The engines/rolling stock I have stripped using 91% have taken anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours before the paint will rub of using the tooth brush. Best bet is to let them soak over night, it wont hurt anything doing that.

Be careful and test the Pine sol first on an old same type plastic - some plastics disolve!

I have used Walmart oven cleaner and a toothbrush with great results.
Nowdays - I use my sand blaster with super results!

There is a Revell (brand) paint remover which works perfect on plastic (made for that), but a faster way is to use oven cleaner, you'll need to put the model in a ziploc bag, spray it with the cleaner and close the bag. Let it work for at least 30 minutes (sometimes can be loooooonger) and wash it.
