Hello---nice forum! I have an interest in trains, my last actual layout was
as a kid with an old Lionel O guage steam locomotive I think a 2-6-0 with
a Pennsylvania coal tender maybe. I grew up in western Mass near a junction
on the old Boston and Albany line which was used by NYC when I was a 10
year old kid in 1963. Then along came Penn Central then Conrail and finally
today I think CSX is still there. I am retired and in Florida. I also remember
going for rides on the Mowhawk Trail which was near a line that was used by
B&M back in the 60s. Now I just do a lot of modelling, mostly 1/72 aircraft
and some 1/24 cars. What I am currently interested in is maybe doing a few
"static" diesels from back in the day. I am going to do an HO Athearn GP35
in a short line livery and then maybe an F7A B&M unit. Been looking at some
better quality undecorated, non powered units that I can repaint and decal
as needed.---John

In the older models is where you will find the undec/unpowered models. Not too many, if any in the late models. Things have changed since the shift to short production runs, rather than producing stock to replace the stock on shop shelves. Athearn's GP35's did offer undecorated in the Ready to Roll line which had upgraded shells and more detail parts, like wire hand grabs and Celcon plastic handrails in finer profile.

We don't mind if you show us some of your previous work. Several pilots and car nuts (including me) on the forum.

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you aboard!

Stop by the coffee shop and say hello if you have time.

Thanks for the welcomes. I am new to railroad modelling but NOT to
modelling in general. Once I figure this site out I will post some of my
"non rail" models. I started back in the early 60s with Lindberg, AMT,
Polar Lights, Hawk and Revell-Monogram kits. Through the years I
progressed to Tamiya, Hasegawa, Eduard and also honed my scratch
building and painting-weathering skills. I look for accuracey and the
best detail I can afford. ---John

Here's an idea of where I am at with this. This will be my
first attempt at a locomotive static model. I am starting with
this and hopefully going to a decent short line replica.---John

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you aboard!

Just curious, where do you put your photos ? I was asked to show
some of my modelling other than RR but have no idea how to create
a "personal" album. There's lots of gallerys but all related to building
scenery or layouts. Thanks for any help.---John

Hi John -- Welcome.
I'll have to try to find out for you tomorrow ... just can't keep my eyes open any longer.

I see there are 8 pages of photos of that GP35 on rrpicturearchives.net http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locopicture.aspx?id=56092&Page=1 so you should have plenty of examples to work from.

Click onto the media tab and hunt around in there (haven't done that myself yet). I think that's where you can set up albums.
The road's reporting mark is HRRC, which is normally painted onto the cab's side or similar, but not in this roads case apparently.

That's not what I was getting at. You asked to see MY work in
modelling, cars , planes etc. How do I show MY work NOT related
to RR. See you post 9 posts up in this blog.---John

JOHN -- I don't think anyone would mind if you posted your non-RR work in an album in the media section. - or, if You just want to post a couple photos a day -- join a group of us in the "Coffee Shop"
Running Bear's December 2018 Coffee Shop
where lots of different "stuff" gets shown.

Toot is correct - Media Section and create "new post" or album. I have not done it, but looks easy enough?

OR -- Just start a new Thread using a thread title of like "John's Work".
Then you can add another pic to the thread via a new post whenever you have something new.
