New Oxford HO models

I'll be right there with you. I have over 250 vehicles for the transition era. My layout is set in 1957 and Oxford has been improving with each new release. I try to get the most accurate vehicles. Some can get pricey, but the price of the Oxford vehicles won't put a big debt in your wallet. Here is some of my hoard. You'll see a lot of Oxfords in the photos.

Yes, I really like the cars from the early 1950s. The Pound to Dollar conversion shows a price that is very favorable: L5.95 to $7.86 and L6.45 to $8.52. The question will be what will shipping cost?

Those are about the most reasonable prices that I have seen for good quality model vehicles.

Mark - I have ordered directly from Oxford a couple of times and you are right about the shipping and prices. I am really suprised how fast they arrive from the UK.

If I remember correctly, a bit over five bucks from the UK. That was for probably three different cars.

Not Oxford, but Auto World finally has photos on their website for the Classic Metalworks '55 Chevy pickup, and Walthers shows the pickups as "in transit", but still with no photos.
Also, slightly off topic, Auto World has also re-released the old Polar lights HO scale house kits (and has photos on their website). The Adams Family house (from the old TV show) is now the "Victorian House" and the old "Psycho" house (from the Alfred Hitchcock movie), is now the "House on the Hill", and both are in stock at Walthers with "no photo available" and listed as part of the Classic Metalworks product line. If you want to build a victorian era residential street, you can also add the "Munster's" house, which was also used in "Desperate Housewives", from Mobius models (they also make the "Mel's Diner" kit in HO from the "American Graffitti" movie).

Best deal I have found is to order from Hattons (eHattons.com) of Liverpool. Largest UK internet seller. Prices are discounted from Oxford full retail. I usually order a few 4 mm (1/76) vehicles at the same time including recently some nifty US Army WW 2 Jeeps. There is an extensive OO/4mm Oxford military line that can be used for US HO provided you are not too fussy about being a bit overscale. Shipping has lately been 5 GBP per order (@$.6.50). Who knows what will happen with with the Brexit mess. Oxford like everyone else manufactures in China where they have their own exclusive joint venture factory.

Remember to buy from a source that is licensed to deduct the UK VAT Tax (sales tax) which is currently 20%. It usually more than offsets shipping costs. What will happen if Brexit happens no one knows. And look at Oxford 4 mm (OO scale) scale vehicles to see if they may be of use as background items. If they ever make the Ford Model T in either scale, I am in for several. Painted black of course. The prototype UK version was nearly identical to the US version except for right hand drive.

Just a reminder, the 57 Chevy Cameo pickups by Classic Metalworks are due at Walthers in a week or so. Looks like there will be three colors available. You'll need a few for your 1957 vintage Chevy dealership. Looks like they have the 55 Chevy stepside pickups back in stock, but the 55 Chevy box trucks aren't available yet.

Thanks for the info. I can wait for the box trucks, but I could use some of the pickups. The would look good at the Chevy dealership.

The new Oxford '57 Dodge pickups have come out in red and white. They seem to keep improving with every new model.

I also like the bew Chevy pickups that Classic Metal Works brought out. They are 55's, but the body style is the same as the 57's so they fit right in with my Chevy dealership.

The 57 Chevy Cameo pickups are scheduled for future release. Also for future release are a couple 57 Chevy step sides packaged along with boats on trailers.

Meanwhile, Oxford has announced new colors on several of their newest cars.

I did see that these trucks will be released soon. Not interested in the ones with the boat and trailer as where I am modeling, there's no boating going on, but I am interested in the Cameos and step sides. I have two of the step sides at my Chevy dealer.
