N&W "what if" Experimental Unit.

River Run

Diesel Detailer
Well, what we have here is a N&W High Nose Experimental GP18Xac. Here are a few quick shots. Remember, it's gonna be a "what if?" Norfolk & Western unit. The dynamic brakes came from an ATLAS GP-38, the cab is Athearn, and the nose is Cannon. I lowered the bolsters on the Athearn trucks to get it down in the weeds. The rear class lights were filled in with Cannon knock outs. Don't know if I'm gonna put others on the rear, N&W was starting to get away from them in the late '70s.

N&W 13D scheme in "sheep dip" black. I've got a lot of work to do on it. I'd like to come up with a more detailed radiator grill on the lower hood side. The Smokey Valley is kind of shallow in detail.

P.S....This project would not have been possible without Chuck C. helping in supplying the parts that were missing.

Looks like a great "what if" kind of model, Randy. You'll surely be giving N&W rivet counters fits with that one. :)
