Mixing clear gloss with paint for spraying?

What do you guys think about mixing in a bit of Clear Gloss with the paint color for spraying where a Gloss in the paint color wanted isn't available?

Has anyone tried this and if so, how did it turn out?

Tony: I never tried it, but I don't believe the gloss and regular paint may not mix well together, even if they do you may not achieve the results you wanted. Why not use the gloss as the finish coat like we use Dull Kote to flatten sheen?

Greg,

I would have put a coat or two of clear gloss over what I painted to finish it, but remember decades ago (literally) painting my car and it was recommended (then) to add clear coat to the last (third) coat of color followed by 2 coats of pure clear. If memory serves me, the reason was to give the final color coat a little more depth.

I figured that might also be the case with painting trains and was just a thought. At the end of the day, putting on the paint and then the clear would be much easier and, as you said, would probably yield better results.
