And so it begins! I received an Athearn GP40x in the mail and have already taken the first few steps for the conversion into a GP40MC. So far I've removed the shell from the old chassis/frame and have removed the cab. I'll post all progress photos/Updates on this thread!

I’ve been working nonstop on this project for the past few days and made a lot of progress. The stretching of the shell was successful, the new cab is complete, Kadee couplers were installed, step ladders were added, number boards added, and front marker lights are in place. All that’s left to do before I spray it with primer is to add the small details such as the bell, horn, nose headlight, front ditch lights, rear marker lights, etc. I reworked the GP40X shell to sit comfortably and correctly on the Dash 8 frame.

Bell and mount were added. The bell was recycled from the GP40x this started from. Filled the gap between the walls of the nose with styrene.
