So I've decided to quit modeling the MBTA's weird equipment and move onto a different commuter rail, Metro North or MTA. I've taken my Walthers F40 that WAS painted as MBTA 1016 and overhauled it into a Metro North F40PH-3cat #4912. What I've done here is stripped the paint, then chopped the rear section off using a hobby saw. Next, Using sheet styrene, I lengthened the shell to cover the back deck as per protoype, I then primed and painted the locomotive in the present MTA paint scheme. I also scratch built an AC unit for the cab roof. All that's left is a few exterior details, however I've lost the rear coupler bracket so I'm not sure how I'm going to install a coupler now......
I used a mix of microscale Soo Line decals and highball graphics decals for this project. Testors metallic silver was used for the body, Testors gloss bright blue was used for the blue and flat black for the roof.
