Logan Valley

Chet, I haven't gone through all the photos I've posted here; but, what I've seen so far looks like all mine came through the migration from the old Forum to this one. I sure can see that you have lost many of you'res!

Chet,

That is weird, the loss of the pictures .... I am sure that Bob will sort it out though. In the event that they have disappeared into cyberspace some where, do you still have copies of them?

There are some photos in the earlier posts, but many are missing. Bob, where did they go ????

Unfortunately, I've got nothing. No idea what broke here or why. Unfortunately, when you do a huge date migration like this, it's pretty much inevitable that not all of the data will come across. It sucks but it seems like the way to fix it would be to edit the posts and reupload them.

Bob: So far so good on the data migration and some data loss should be expected with a project as large as the one you under took. But is a shame that some photos got loss in cyber space during the whole process.

Thanks.

Greg

It really is, and I tried hard to avoid that. What's strange is that his earlier photos came through, and other attachments during that time frame made the transition just fine. Really don't know what happened to those ones?

A lot of photos that were in this posting were lost when the forum was updated so I'll post some of the more recent photos. I had one open area without much happening so I went and put this blacksmith shop and Woodland Scenics built up mobile home.

The mobile home came with LED interior lighting so I put some juice to it and it doesn't look bad at all.

I model the transition era, set in 1957 so having a car dealership really helps to set the time. I managed to find one of the old Revell auto carrier kits (actually had one when I was a kid) and loaded it with new cars to be delivered.

Trying to get more layout photos into the post, here's a Milwaukee Road switcher spotting a box car at a grain elevator.

So many photos have been lost. I will try to go back and try to figure out what ones are missing and try to replace them. More updated photos will be added also.

Still trying to find and replace lost photos. Not having much luck.

Earlier I posted the photo of the mobile home with the LED lighting. Went and ordered rhe street lamps from Woodland Scenics and really like the results.

WOW! Chet the details on your layout are amazing! The scenes and lighting are too cool for words. Not to mention you have the best vehicles!

First chance I get I am going to go back to page one and look at everything all over again.

Thanks so very much for sharing, your layout as much as any other has inspired me to have more than just trains and tracks, I can't thank you enough.

Thanks for the comments.

Logan is at one end of the Logan Valley where it connects to the Northern Pacific. From Logan, the lone heads south. As you leave Logan, the tracks pass a salvage yard. For now I am calling it Sanford Salvage.

Here is the switchback leading down to the salvage yard. The train coming out of the tunnel is coming out of the hidden staging tracks and is the connection to the Northern Pacific.

Here the tracks pass the blacksnith shop and mobile home.

There will be a pond going in to the left of the mobile home. I have some Woodland Scenics Water Effects on order. From there we pass the Van Dyke farm on the way into Churchill.

The next town on the line is Churchill.

Here are some more photos. After passing the Van Dyke farm, the next town is Churchill. As we enter town, we pass McNab Livestock. This was build stick by stick from strip wood. Don't think I would want to try that again.

20181113_080643.jpg

Across from the grain elevator is the first home that was put into the town. Looks like a young man has come to pick up his girl friend.
20181113_080728.jpg

Across the street is Vincent Supply with a farm supply company which is also a John Deere dealership with a lumber yard and hardware store.
20181113_080746.jpg

Moving down the street we come to Tschache (Shocky) Oil. It was named after a friend whos family made their fortune in the oil industry.
20181116_104018.jpg

Across the treet are some of the businesses in town. This was the first town to go up on the layout and I still don't have any signs up on them. Talk about procrastination.
20181116_104053.jpg

Next is the freight station. It was one of my first scratch builds. I couldn't find any kits that I liked so I went into my wood bin using what ever sheet wood and strip wood I had on hand.
20181113_081309.jpg

Across from the freight station is Ed's Marker. It is a wood and cardboard kit build many years ago. It is one of the buildings that have the interior lit.

Across from the market is the passenger station.

Only 10 photos can be put in a post so we'll move down the srteet. Next to the station is a small park.
20181113_081343.jpg

The Chevy dealership is across the street. It is also lit.
20181111_163415.jpg

20180827_183121.jpg

Moving down the street is a couple of homes. Looks like laundry day.
20181113_081356.jpg

Moving down the street is the local mechanic shop.
20181113_081406.jpg

As we leave town, there is the house up on the hill. Looks like they have visitors with a travel trailer.
20181113_080835.jpg

In the next post, we'll move along to the next town.

Now we move onto the town of Anceny. This has the last of my plywood prairie. Originally I had the carrle pens located behind the diner. Not very appetizing. It was moved out of town to this location. These tracks ended up being moved twice in order to make room for all of the buildings. A fairly tight spot. I have a fence to go in along the spur behind the homes. I'll get to it some day, along with ballasting the tracks and finishing the grade crossing.

Behind the businesses is the freight station next to the grain elevator. Originally the grain elevator was where the cattle pens were moved to. The freight station also has to be completed.

20181113_080935.jpg

The little gas station was made from scraps of Evergreen siding.

20181111_163232.jpg

The interior is well detailed and lit, but the lighting is disconnected for the time being.

20181121_075556.jpg

As we leave town, this little home sits to the left of the diner.

20181113_081006.jpg

In the next posts I'll move onto the last town on the layout. What a pain losing all of the photos I had postewd.
