Kato N Scale Nose Door Windows

Hi all,

Kato's N Scale models of nose units such as C44-9Ws, etc have the nose cab door window simply modelled in the colour of the unit. The window is not plastic or glass, or tinted. The lack of detail here is bugging me. I was wondering if anyone has any techniques for improving the look of this?

I've posted a picture below for those who don't understand me when I say 'nose cab door window'.

All I could suggest is to "cut" the molded window out and glue in a piece of clear plastic.

A quick easy fix is to just paint the window gloss black, makes a big difference and looks about right.

I second Rico's suggestion. Other than close-up photos, it won't be noticeable in "N" scale.

Thanks guys. I think painting it gloss black is a good suggestion. Any physical modification to the model would be messy as the window is tiny.

Kato, even in HO scale, is not "Big" on detail, or railroad specifics, like we have become accustomed to with other brands. In this case I would second just painting it with gloss black. The nose windows on the 2 HO SD80MAC's I have are clear plastic, but they look black anyway.
