How Long of a Train do you Run on Your Layout?

I'll just post a couple of older videos that provide evidence of the long trains I can run.

That is very impressive, particularly the container train

3 cars, max. (There is a steep grade and the 12 ton loco can only pull so much.)

With just a 4x8 and no grades, I usually have 2 locos & 8 - 10 cars. A couple of years ago, just to see if I could do it, I strung 4 locos & 28 cars. The engineer could almost "kiss the caboose"!

I did that on my N-scale layout of 1983. It took about 60 cars to do it. The loco was 1/4" behind the caboose.
