HO Scale Marklin Car Coupler Replacement

I knew when I bought these two cars they had Roco/Marklin couplers but I didn't realise these were truck-mounted metal couplers, I'm not too concerned with the gon as that's a screw fitting and a simple truck swap and body mount Kadee draft box, my problem is the boxcar.

Do I simply cut the coupler off and mount a draft box, (which I'm loath to do, cutting the coupler that is) or swop the trucks, in which case is the truck pin fixed or loose and I'll have to open the car to replace the pin when it inevitability disappears into the car? Any ideas/solutions would be appreciated.

If you want to swap the trucks on the boxcar, you can glue a piece of styrene rod into the pin hole (if the pin is removable), then drill and tap the rod for a screw.
