HO Rusty Rail Shay Scrap Heap

PNKFLOYD

Mikey
I recently acquired a cast Rusty Rails Shay scrap heap from a friend. This casting seems to be discontinued by Rusty Rails, so it is especially meaningful to me.
Here is the raw casting.

The detail is incredible on both sides.

Had to wash the casting to remove the mold release.
Sprayed with gray primer and applied a blackish base coat to the engine.

Added a little color and rusty areas.

And here is the other side.

A few more highlighted spots and more rust on the other side.

I will let the paint dry for 24 hours before the fading washes are applied.
More to come.

This picture shows the lucky 13 Shay with a light gray wash to give a slight fade to the paints.
After the wash dries thoroughly, I will use another darker wash to tone down the colors.

The Lucky 13 cab looks like perfect hobo quarters.
I can imagine a curtain of sorts, across the cab entrance.
Small pile of wood for the burner. Just enough to keep warm.
Crates to sit and eat on. Maybe play cards too. :)

That is a good suggestion that I will keep in mind.
After the grunge wash dries, I'll take another picture for you.
