After many years i have re assembled my HO layout that i obtained years ago. Track work moving along and powe and control lag a bit. But i am finding structures that i am not sure of. Seems to be something related to coaling but not clear how the engine and tender get the coal. I suspect some piece is missing. Any thoughts appreciated.

Yes, part of it is missing. Just a big jigsaw puzzle.

The different bins represent different construction materials, ballast, rip rap, what have you. Doesn't look like coal, they would all be black however the different size sorted materials would be in order. I wonder what the bottom looks like? Must be a hopper bottom under there?
