Double Track Main Detail

I am on spring break this coming week and I'm not happy with my double track main's scenery. I need some modeling advice. I have ballast and basic scenery down, but I don't know what to ad. On one side is a rock cliff, and the other side is the edge of the table. i have a few inches on each side to model. It is a generic East Coast railroad, any advice will be great!

For realism add some old and new railroad ties along the right of way...a broken coupler or two, old steel drums, old pallets, broken limbs from trees, a wheel and whatever else to may want that could be found along the tracks. even some ore, coal or dirt spills are common.

Have fun....!

What he said!
Maybe even a few pieces of rusted rail.

Pictures of what it looks like now would help too. I like to go to real rail spots and look at pictures too for ideas when adding details.
