Choppy Runner

Hi,
I have two new diesel locos from Model Power. One is an F2A (Army) and it runs great. The other is an RS-2 (CN). The RS-2 is much lighter than the F2A and it doesn't run as smoothe.

With the F2A, I can set my power pack at a very low speed and the loco just keeps pulling. The RS-2 needs to maintain speed. At slow speeds it get's choppy.

I'm thinking the extra weight on the F2A is probably due to flywheels. I haven't had a chance to open either loco yet, but does anyone know if I can add flywheels to the RS-2? If so, where can I find them?

Thanks,
Doug

Doug, I have no idea if the RS-2 has flywheels but I doubt the F-2 does either. It may be that the RS-2 just needs some more weight added but Model Power locomotives have never been known for good motors or good running qualities. The choppiness may be due to poor gear alignment, lack of lubrication, or just a crummy motor. With Model Power, it's always a crap shoot.
