Can Bachmann DCC-equipped loco be reset with old DC power pack?

Hi,

I don't have any DCC equipment, or experience with it. I do have a 35-year-old Troller AutoPulse DC power pack with brake & momentum (remember those). So far I've been able to test the basic functions of the newer DCC/Sound offerings from Atlas, Athearn Genesis, and MTH with this old transformer... forward, reverse, start-up & run sounds, etc.

I now have a set of Bachmann HO FT A & B locos, factory DCC-Equipped "DCC on-board", neither of which respond at all to my DC power pack. The former owner has a 3-digit code "390" penciled on the end-panel of each unit's box. I guess this is a DCC loco ID code? It seems unlikely that both units are bad in the same way. Could someone tell me if there's a way to reset a Bachmann DCC-equipped unit by using only a DC power pack? (...and yes, according to the box, these units are backward compatible with DC.)

Thanks very much,

Norm: In order to reset the DCC decoder you would need a full blown DCC system. Using a DC power supply limits what you can do with a DCC equipped locomotive.

Simple answer: No. To do any programming of the DCC decoder in a so equipped model, requires a DCC system

How old are these units? The newest Bachmann can be reset with your phone and the EZ-app. IF they are the really older ones, from say 2006-2007, I believe they had manual jumpers where one unplugged the decoder and plugged in the jumper to "convert" them back and forth from DCC to DC. If the locos didn't come with the "plug" such a plug can be easily faked with a couple wires.

At the very bottom of this is the "plug"

IF the units are somewhere between age wise, I have been unable to find any information on them.
And this diagram does not give me much hope. I see no DCC plug on it.
