A new beginning...JRs UPRR.

Management just got back from a trip to Birmingham, Alabama......

A slew of new motive power arrived in the yard.....all kinds of locomotive rumbling moving in on the rails.....new paint schemes for JR's UPPR Heritage Fleet in acknowledgement....or nod to the fallen flags. (although these are fantasy schemes and not prototypes...we are accepting them on JR's UPRR)

A new Western Pacific #4403 AC4400 (Athearn RTR 78836 DCC Quick-Plug Equipped with a decoder which will be changed to a sound decoder) and a new Rock Island #5407 Dash 9-44CW (Athearn RTR 77949 with DCC and with a Tsunami Sound GE FDL-16 decoder) they are beautiful!

That RI unit is real nice!

More chattering going on the radio dispatcher's office! Something is happening and it's creating quite a stir. The thundering and moaning whistle has ceased at the moment with a new sound purring in. Wyatt and Doc were sent out by the boss to roll out UP/SP Heritage unit #1996 and the SP Black Widow #750 for some reason that was not shared to the rest of the gang. The scuttle butt is a new unit has arrived earlier than management expected. Ladies and Gents, feast your eyes on this beaut of a loco the SP Daylight unit #600. She is a GE AC6000. Wow she is bringing in a SP business car to boot! Drool over this gang! This is a welcomed unit to have in the JR's UPRR Heritage fleet! Quite nice!

Enjoy the humble photo shoot!

That's also a beautiful unit, I love the SP.

Some of you may remember this discussion (see link above) on my plans for my northern interchange lines. One of them being MT&W Marinette Tomahawk & Western railroad. I was looking for any locomotives on line in the paint scheme of the MT&W before the "cough cough" orange scheme (Genesse & Wyoming colors) gobbled them up. So recently as luck would have it I was able to find a locomotive shell that was done up in the correct color and paint scheme, a SW 1500 #87.

I will post pictures shortly with an edit...momentarily.....

Here we are...

By the way if anyone can help me find some prototype picture of #87 that would be fantastic. There are several of #1587 repaint for #87. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3496650

Just trying to find the #87 before the repaint. Seems rather difficult to find.

Meanwhile the cool weather seems to be coming and well like most of us we start back into thinking about layout work and projects. That's heavy on my mind. Looking forward to actually laying some track this fall.
