How do those type of decoders differ from this type that i put into my old steamer? I assume newer technology? Or types with no sound? or even these older type?

Actually, I am fussy, the pic doesn’t show the trucks of the cars. Are they about 1/4 inch deeper than the raised surface of your blue work mat?

Thank you, that tells me 3 1/2 inch under my bridges are plenty. 1/4 inch for foam roadbed and 1/4 inch track included in that 3 1/2 will cut my foam inclines down more today.
